There are also daily buses to and from Phnom Penh to the Thai border crossing of Poipet, and the Vietnam borders of Moc Bai and Chao Doc. Trains
Trains used to leave Phnom Penh Station (just off Monivong & the corner of 108) on alternate days to either Poipet (stopping off at Pusat, Battambang and Sisophon along the way) or to Sihanoukville (where you can get off at Takeo and Kampot before reaching Sihanoukville). They now run as and when they feel like. Enquire at the station before hand

Boats
You can leave Phnom Penh via boat on the Tonlé Sap towards Siem Reap (trips generally taking four to five hours). Boats leave from just south of the Japanese Bridge (Route 5) near the Wat Phnom daily at 7AM ($25). Tickets are sold at the dock. Once the boat docks in Siem Reap, your still 12km out of town. Guesthouse touts will immediately hound you. It costs $2-$5 for taxis, pick-ups & minibuses and $1 for moto’s to get into town. Remember, if your driver tells you your hotel or guesthouse is full, it’s almost definitely not true. These people live on previously arranged commission deals with hotels and guesthouses.
